Learning Labs
Lab Types
Students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance are now able to continue learning how to make the best use of their assistive technologies long after their one-to-one training has finished.Description
Learning how to use the assistive technology provided through the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) can be a job in itself.
Ideally you would have access to an assistive technology trainer night and day, for all the days, weeks and years of your course.
Learning Labs gives you just this; 'always on' learning support for your assistive technologies.
Technical
Kinaesthetic
The Kinaesthetic Lab allows you to learn by interacting with a software simulation. This is fantastic for those who are very tactile and learn by doing. You are in control of the simulation and learn by actively carrying out the task with written guidance.
Multi-Sensory
With the Multi-Sensory Lab you can learn by watching and listening to a full screen video. This lab is ideal for those who are more visual and like to watch a task being performed before they try it. Videos can be watched in full screen mode for added clarity.
Phonological
With the Phonological Lab you can learn by downloading and reading plain text instructions. When we read we are actually listening to our own voice speak the words, making this great for audible learners. Instructions are also fully editable so can be customised by the learner them self.
